An Introduction to Conversational Intelligence® Lunch and Learn

Conversational Intelligence®, C-IQ, is the hardwired, and learnable ability, to connect, navigate and grow with others ­- a necessity in building healthier and more resilient organizations in the face of change. C-­IQ begins with trust and ends with high quality relationships  and measurable business success.

We are in conversations every day and research shows that 9 out of ­10 conversations miss the mark. Sometimes people may say to you, “I don’t have time to spend in deep conversations – they take too long.” By mastering Conversational Intelligence®, we will learn the art of generative conversations, even when the conversations are difficult. Learning to talk in a reciprical way where we listen to each other.

During our 90 minute Lunch and Learn you will learn what Conversational Intelligence® is, the 3 Levels of conversations, and why it’s important to learn when and how to engage in each level. 



C-IQ® TRUST Roadmap

When we practice C-IQ tools we better navigate situations, conversations, and narratives so that we shorten the so called “STORMING” phase of change, and fast track TRUST, which then becomes the foundation of a “PERFORMING” state for the individual and the team. During this six month experiential program your team will work at a deep level, moving from individual learning to engaging with, and implementing, the C-IQ tools through peer coaching and accountability partnerships. 

T.R.U.S.T stands for Transparency, Relationship, Understanding, Shared Success and Truth Telling and Testing:

Our first objective is to help the individual become distinctively present and open to others by being tuned into the relationship environment. Teams are made up of people who want to connect, and when we are more Transparent about what is going on, we will send the signal that “we’re all in this together". Being present with others enables the team to move from “protect” to “connect” at a visceral level, the first important step to building lasting trust.

Second, we need to know where we stand so that we can let go of fears and questions that enhance insecurity, disengagement, and low productivity. Once we know where we stand, we can then start what are called productive Relationships. Where despite differences in ideology teammates are able to create good things together.

Third, working together so that we become masterful at presenting and communicating context, so that our relationships become more productive and less stressful. Providing well thought out and articulated context accelerates the shift from uncertainty to Understanding.

Forth, we will develop conversational skills that enable transformative conversations, working together to learn how to frame conversations into rich powerful dialogues rather than monologues so that all stakeholders feel that they are heard. By creating higher levels of engagement and co-creation, teams can build a picture of Shared Success, which counteracts the fear of being lost, over shadowed, or unrecognized.

And lastly, we will practice elevating honesty to a new level. There will always be uncomfortable meetings and conversations when people change roles and team composition changes, and when the tendency to fudge, sugar coat and/or wait “for a better time” exists. Team performance suffers.  Therefore, we will practice and master Truth Telling with tact and the appropriate context.
